The name Bookwalter has inspired a genre for characterizing the wines, to present them and to distinguish them. This year, we continue with this focus as all of our wines will be named with a literary term to identify and differentiate them within our community. Bookwalter Winery is very proud of the philanthropic work we do within our community, reaching with local, national, and global efforts. Naturally, we gravitate toward literacy and a commitment to support literacy efforts around the world in order to enhance communication, education and quality of life.
In 2009, Bookwalter Wines has paired with the following organizations to forward our literacy initiative:
Room to Read: An innovative non-profit leader dedicated to promoting and enabling global education by establishing libraries and schools, publishing and distributing local language children's books and providing long-term educational support for girls to pursue and complete their secondary education.
King County Library System Foundation: The second largest library system in the nation dedicated to fostering literacy, learning and library access through 45 community libraries serving Western Washington.
The Reading Foundation: For every child to learn to read early and well, thereby reaching his or her full potential in school and life. Currently for every bottle purchased of J. Bookwalter Wine, $1.00 is being donated to help support the Mid-Columbia Reading Foundation. More information for that specific foundation can be found here.
We make every effort to support as many charitable and educational organizations around the country, with emphasis on the state of Washington and our local Tri-City area. However, the volume and frequency of solicitations received, keeps us from responding to every request.
If you would like to request event participation and/or a donation, please submit your request via email.
