SHIPPING WINE &

WARM WEATHER MONTHS

Wine is a heavy, fragile, and federally regulated product that can be costly to ship. During warm weather months, we will not be using ground shipping, unless you are located in the Pacific Northwest. We want to protect the wine from heat damage to ensure you receive a pristine product. Once temperatures cool off, we will resume regular ground shipping. We recommend using 3 day UPS shipping with an insulated shipping box as the best option for shipping wines at this time. If you wish to have your wine changed to overnight shipping, please reach out to have your shipping status updated.

SHIPPING RATES

The shipping rates we provide at J. Bookwalter during warm weather months are heavily subsidized by us to provide you with the best rate. We charge less than the rate UPS is charging us. We do this to make sure you are still able to receive your wines at an affordable rate all year long. If you have questions about shipping please email order@bookwalterwines.com.

PACKING MATERIALS

We use cardboard boxes with foam inserts and ice packs to insulate the wines in transit during warm weather months.

WHY WE CHOOSE TO COLD PACK

Simply put, when wine becomes warm it effects its flavor and can be less enjoyable. In extreme cases, corks may pop or damage the wine bottle and the wine inside. With most of our wines we have spent years crafting it, making sure it is as tasty as it can be. We would hate for you to receive a less than optimal product from us.

WHEN WE SHIP

At J. Bookwalter we choose to ship wine packages out during warm weather on Mondays and Tuesdays to prevent wine from sitting in transit and potentially spoiling. Let us know if you need your wines sooner and we can make arrangements for overnight or priority mail, keeping in mind additional standard shipping rates would apply.
